PFPNH originally convened as a group of transportation planners working to address a federally mandated shift towards performance based planning. However, our workgroup saw an opportunity to go one step further and create complementary, regionally significant measures that capture the transportation needs of New Hampshire. This site details our process, outlines our regional “supplemental” measures, and provides templates and tools that we have developed along the way and that others may use.
WHAT WE ARE DOING
WHY IT MATTERS
Performance-based planning allows us to examine data, past and present, and create measures that tell us how we are doing. It provides a more informed approach when making decisions and prioritizing projects. It gives us measurable targets that enable us to adjust our expectations and work with more accurate information. Our work ensures that money is spent effectively to reduce fatal crashes, improve pavement and bridge condition, reduce traffic congestion, and more. Keep reading for further information!
